Different Types of Events

I thought that this handy guide might be useful if you are not used to organising events and having to speak to venues

  • Conference – a formal meeting of people with a shared interest, typically one that takes place over several days.
  • Seminar – a class at which a topic is discussed by an expert and a small group of delegates.
  • Workshop – a meeting at which a group of people engage in intensive discussion and activity on a particular subject or project.
  • Convention – A large meeting or conference, especially of members of a political party or a particular profession or group:
  • Exhibition – a public display of works of art or items of interest, held in an art gallery or museum or at a trade fair.
  • Showcase – A setting in which someone or something may be displayed, especially to advantage.
  • Roadshow – a touring show of performers, especially pop musicians.
  • Network Meeting – a supportive system of sharing information and services … forming business connections and contacts through informal social meetings.
  • Webinar –  a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web using video conferencing software.

Now you can sound like a professional right from the start when dealing with venues.  The list is by no means exhaustive!
