Banish the erms and arrs

Hello, its Janet here with another top tip to help you become a more confident networker and lose the erms and the arrs.When you’re doing your pitch and speaking to people and you feel an erm or an arr coming on because you maybe can’t remember what you want to say next or maybe you are just plain terrified, pause, just pause and gather your thoughts.

I promise you no one will notice this pause. If anything it slightly adds to the gravitas and depth of your message. Not only pause but speak slowly and that allows your mouth to stay in tandem with your brain.

Did you know that most erms and arrs happen because your brain is racing ahead of how fast your mouth can go? So don’t be afraid of the pause.
